In October 2018, the First Nation owners of Aseneskak Casino, located in Opaskwayak Cree Nation, announced that its Kelsey Bus Lines 2014 division had received approval from the Manitoba Motor Transport Board to conduct public transportation throughout Manitoba effective November 1, 2018.

The owners of Aseneskak Casino have since established Mahihkan Bus Lines Limited Partnership and the Kelsey Bus Lines 2014 division has been sold and transferred to the new partnership and renamed to Mahihkan Bus Lines effective April 1, 2019.

Mahihkan in Cree means wolf, hence the slogan “TRAVEL WITH THE PACK’..

Mahihkan Bus Lines staff are knowledgeable and friendly and strive to provide the best customer service in the industry. Since its creation, Mahihkan Bus Lines has created over 40 jobs across Manitoba and this number will grow as operations are expanded.

 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS TO ALL OF OUR CUSTOMERS

Terms and conditions for Mahihkan Bus Lines: Mahihkan Bus Lines will not be held responsible for lost or stolen tickets. They will not be replaced, refunded or redeemed.  All reservations and tickets expire on the date of travel posted on the ticket. Tickets and reservations are non transferable. Each passenger must present either a printed or electronic ticket AND valid photo ID at boarding. Schedules and services are subject to change without notice. Mahihkan Bus Lines may substitute alternate carrier or means of transportation. Baggage liability is limited to damage only to a maximum of $100.00 CAD. Senior, Military, Student, or other discounts require valid ID or other proof of eligibility. Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by someone age 15 and over. No exceptions will be permitted. Mahihkan Bus Lines will not be held liable for delays due to breakdowns, weather, or other conditions, including safely concerns, beyond the carrier’s control. Fares are payable in Canadian dollars. Refunds and Exchanges: Ticket Refunds- Ticket refunds after the original travel date and time will not be permitted. If a passenger misses a schedule, they are required to purchase a new ticket in order to travel.  Refunds on partially used tickets are calculated based on the difference between the value of the ticket and the value of the fare used. Refunds will only be processed provided Mahihkan Bus Lines is notified of such refund request prior to the original scheduled travel date. Refundable tickets may be refunded with the original form of payment at the location at which the ticket was sold. All other Refundable fares tickets may only be refunded upon application for refund by Mahihkan Bus Lines head office. All refunds may be subject to a 15% refund fee. Ticket Exchanges: Ticket Exchanges are not allowed. Tickets must be cancelled and refunded and a new ticket purchased. Online Ticket Refunds: Mahihkan Bus Lines will refund eligible online tickets under the following conditions: Notice is received by Mahihkan Bus Lines a minimum of 24 hours prior to your scheduled departure time. If received after the scheduled date of travel, the refund will not be processed. Please fax request to 204-623-2225 attention: customer service – refund, or call204-623-2161. Mahihkan Bus Lines requires a valid phone number we will call you to process the refund to your credit card. All refunds may be subject to a 15% refund fee. Mahihkan Bus Lines representative will contact you within 3 business days. Delays and Cancellations: Schedules and services are subject to change without notice. Mahihkan Bus Lines may substitute alternate carrier or means of transportation where available. Unscheduled delays can sometimes occur. Mahihkan Bus Lines is not responsible for delays or cancellations caused by traffic, road conditions, weather or other causes over which it has no control. Alternatively, where Mahihkan Bus Lines fails to provide on-time reliable service for reasons wholly within our control, refunds, or alternate travel arrangements may be offered. Baggage Checked Baggage: All Mahihkan Bus Line buses have a baggage storage compartment underneath the bus. Passengers are welcome to check one piece of baggage at no charge. Be sure that checked bags and carry-on bags have a baggage tag with your name, phone number and destination clearly printed.  For your convenience, Mahihkan Bus Lines will check two additional pieces of baggage at $15.00 each. If you require checking more pieces of baggage, you will be charged the freight rates.  Baggage identification tags are available at all stations and agencies.  Size & Weight Limitations: No baggage will be accepted that is larger than 24 inches (61 cm) in depth, 24 inches (61 cm) in width and 45 inches (114 cm) in length (except snowboards, hockey sticks, skis and ski poles). All baggage must weigh less than 50 pounds (23 kg). Carry-on Baggage- Each passenger is welcome to carry-on one piece of baggage, weighing no more than 15 pounds (7 kg). The carry on should be placed in the overhead bins or under your seat and must not be larger than 9 inches 23 cm height, by 16inches(40.5 cm) width, by 20 inches (70.5 cm) depth.  Baggage Claims and Liability -Baggage liability in the event of loss or damage is $100.00 dollars per adult ticket and $50.00 dollars per child ticket. All claims in respect to baggage should be addressed to Mahihkan Bus Lines, Box 10250, Opaskwayak, MB R0B 2J0. Attention: Customer Service. Loss or damage to baggage must be reported within seven (7) days after the date of travel. Prohibited Baggage The following articles are prohibited as checked baggage on Mahihkan Bus Lines:1.Alcoholic Beverages and Liquors 2.Dangerous Articles (ammunition, fireworks, flammable substances, radioactive materials, etc.) 3.Matches 4.Fragile articles 5.Controlled or illegal substances. Mahihkan Bus Lines will not accept or transport any article, material, or substance the possession of which or the transportation of which is unlawful. Service Animal – Mahihkan will accept one certified service animal per passenger with a disability for carriage without charge and will permit the animal, if properly harnessed, to accompany the passenger on the bus. The service animal will remain on the floor at the passenger’s feet during travel. The service animal is the responsibility of its owner and must be under the control of its owner at all times (i.e.,leash, harness or carrier). The service animal must ride in the bus within the customer’s space. Service animals may not travel in the aisle or occupy a seat. Mahihkan Bus Lines reserves the right to refuse passage to any animal that poses a direct threat to the health and safety of other customers, Mahihkan Bus Lines personnel or contractors.  Passengers should note that they are required to produce written proof to the operator that the service animal has been trained and certified by a professional service animal institution.
