COVID-19 Update April 17, 2020 Mahihkan Bus Lines has been carefully monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak, while closely following the advice of public health authorities. As the coronavirus pandemic is in full force, the Chief Provincial Public Health Officer Dr. Brent Roussin has announced new travel restrictions on April 16, 2020. These restrictions include travel north of the 53rd parallel and into remote communities with no summer access road going out. Our priority is to keep our northern communities safe and we will be suspending our passenger service until May 1, 2020 and will re-open May 4, 2020 unless these travel restrictions haven’t been lifted. Mahihkan Bus Lines offices will remain closed during this time and any customers that may have questions please feel free to contact our Winnipeg location at 204.783.9154 or email manager@mahihkanbuslines.com. Re: Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Mahihkan Bus Lines provides vital transportation services within Manitoba and across North America. With the likely continued spread of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), we understand that people may be feeling concerned about the safety of public transit; we take this very serious.
Our company has always prioritized cleanliness and disinfecting of our equipment with commercial grade cleaners. This include nightly disinfecting of all high-touch areas in all our buses, regular deep cleaning and wipe downs. During the COVID-19 outbreak, and always, we want to ensure our passengers that we have taken necessary steps to ensure cleanliness and disinfectant of our buses.
Mahihkan Bus Lines top priorities are to insure safe and healthy protocols are continued and to have our employees work in a safe and healthy environment.
How can I reduce my risk of infection?
Good hand hygiene provides significant protection from viral respiratory illnesses.
Hand washing regularly with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds. Make sure to dry your hands thoroughly. Or, you can use an alcohol-based hand cleanser if your hands are not visibly unclean.
Stop touching your face, viruses enter our bodies through our eyes, nose and mouth.
- after coughing or sneezing
- before, during and after you prepare food
- before eating
- after bathroom use
- when hands are visibly unclean
Social distancing – keeping a distance of 1 meter (3 feet), disengaging in handshaking and touching.
